General Mills Day 5 – Trix
Trix are for kids! Who hasn’t heard that slogan and smiled at the thought of it. The Trix Rabbit is a cultural icon to those of us growing up in the 70′s. He represented fun, excitement, and he fronted a cereal that came in fun colors that made fabulous rainbow colored milk! Were they nutritionally sound? We didn’t care, they were delicious.
When I became a mom, I introduced my kids to all the yummy Saturday morning cereals I’d enjoyed as a kid. I loved collecting points and sending away for toys for them – our favorite a set of beanie toys just after the Beanie Baby craze of all of the breakfast cereal mascots. I think we still have them in a box in the closets somewhere.
I’ve enjoyed reliving my teen years as well as my kids’ childhood through this General Mills promotion. Special thanks to them for allowing me to participate.

I remember watching cartoons early on a Saturday morning in late winter, when the sun was streaming into our living room heating the floor so that you could lay on the carpet and feel warm.
My favorite Saturday morning memory would have to be waking up early with my sister, running over to our best friend’s house down the street, still in PJs, and watching our favorite Saturday morning cartoons (especially Muppet Babies and Inspector Gadget) while we ate French toast, cereal, bacon and eggs, and whatever her mom would bring out to us. Nostalgia :)

My fondest Saturday morning memory was actually when I had the chicken pox and I had to stay home for the last half of the week and the entire weekend. I was treated like a king :D and had everything I needed and wanted brought to me pretty much on demand. Ah, the Napolean inside me was howling with joy :D
When I was a kid, my sisters and I got up early and watched cartoons all morning. Then, we went outside and played until it got dark…boy, those were the days.

My favorite memory of Saturday mornings was watching Roy Rogers on tv. Thanks!
I always watched cartoons on Saturday mornings, but my favorite Saturday morning memories are when there was a cartoon called the Snorks. They were kind of like the smurfs, but they were cute underwater creatures. i just really liked that show, but it wasn’t very long-lasting.
Waking up before my parents, eating bowl after bowl of Trix, whist watching a morning full of cartoons!
I say there was never anything better than sitting in front of the tv on Saturday mornings and eating Trix, and watching cartoons. Now my grandson is starting to do that!
Back when Carnation Breakfast Bars were good (in the mid-80s), I would get up before anyone else on Saturday, get a Breakfast Bar (sometimes 2 if I thought I could get away with it), sit on the floor by the TV, pull up my Raggedy Ann & Andy stool to use as a table, and watch cartoons until the ‘rents got up. I was so proud that I could “make” my own breakfast!
i love atari!
My favorite was getting up on Sat. morn and my dad would make breakfast and sitting down and watching popeye and olive oyl. OMG I am old !!
The Saturday morning cartoons were the best. I particularly loved “The Banana Splits Hour”. Those were the days when even words like cr__ and s__ks were considered swearing and never uttered on television. I don’t allow my children to even use these words! :)
Getting up really early and watching the Loony Toons 1/2 hour show that came on at 6:00 in the morning (or 5:30).
watching cartoons while eating cereal in the family room.

My favorite memory is everyone slowly waking up at my dads house and coming downstairs to watch One Saturday Morning cartoons. I usually fell back asleep! :)
