I am a huge supporter of living globally. I feel I have a responsibility to care for people all over the world and what I choose to buy, use, and support can make a difference. Thankfully I’m not alone in this mission. Walmart recently announced that they’ve launched a new initiative whose purpose is to empower women worldwide called Empowering Women Together. By helping them provide a better life for themselves, they’re also raising the living standards of their families. They’re giving women a chance to make and earn an income from their handiwork which gives them a chance to direct their own futures.
Nomi Network for Full Circle Exchange Recycled Rice Bag Quilted Laptop Case
Walmart has made it easy to support these small businesses from around the world with an online shopping destination that gives you the opportunity to purchase unique and interesting products. The project’s initial launch includes over 200 items from nine countries and nineteen businesses. Choose from jewelry from Kenya, Peru, Rwanda, and the US. Or purchase accessories for your home from Haiti and Rwanda including amazing woven baskets.
Home goods include paper mache flowers and vases made in Haiti and carved wooden napkin rings. I love the iPad and laptop cases made in Nepal and Cambodia from recycled rice bags and the global fashions including dresses, bags, scarfs, and more. Plus US and Canadian artisans offer specialty foods like coffee and chocolate as well as specialty boxed baking mixes.
I hope next time you need something for yourself, your family, or as a gift, you’ll consider shopping at this very special webstore. The products are adorable and you’ll be helping women and their families.
This project is part of Walmart’s Global Women’s Economic five-year commitment to source $20 billion dollars in inventory from women-owned businesses.
