ALMONDINA The Original Almond Biscuits – the low calorie all natural treat
Almondina® gets its name from its creator, Dina, the grandmother of Yuval Zaliouk, a world renowned musical conductor and chef. Grandma Dina created the recipe for her infamous Petit Gateau Sec which upon her passing was given to Zaliouk’s mother, who then shared it with him. It was Zaliouk who changed the name to honor the woman who had made these delicious cookie treats for him over the years.
Almondinais a hit not just because they’re free from cholesterol, salt, and preservatives as well as added fat and trans fat, but they’re amazingly crunchy and delicious. Unlike other twice baked cookies, these are wafer thin and they lend themselves beautifully to being served with soft cheese, wine, etc. I recently enjoyed the chocolate cherry flavor with some fabulous organic vanilla bean ice-cream – it was like a wonderful, crunchy chocolate sundae in my bowl.

But you don’t need to embellish one of these cookies to make them amazing. They’re incredibly delicious all on their own. That’s because Almondinadoesn’t use cheap flavorings – there are real cherries, fresh ginger, and plump raisins in these crispy little cookies. The ginger is amazingly refreshing and nothing like its ground ginger cookie counterparts found on store shelves. Everything about Almondinashouts fresh, whole, and delicious.
Zalioukintroduced the classic The Original flavor in 1989. Since then, eight more incredible variations have been created, but all are packed with roasted almonds and other flavors for an incredible treat. Each cookie has between 30 – 45 calories each – well below a normal treat calorie counts. Best of all, these have great ingredients and they’re Kosher Pareve (which means there are no meat or dairy products in the ingredients – perfect for this vegetarian!).

The Cinn-full Treat™ – these must have been amazing because they were gone before I got a chance to try them. They combined cinnamon, almonds, and raisins – my idea of heaven and as close to a crunchy cinnamon roll as you can get. Ingredients – Almonds, Flour (wheat flour, malted barley flour), Pure Cane Sugar, Egg Whites, Raisins, Natural Flavors.
Each cookie is packed with goodies – in this case cherries and almonds.
I almost passed these by because for some reason I thought they contained coconut. Boy was I wrong – I almost missed out one an amazing cookie. The chocolate is deep and rich and the raisins bring a little brightness. Stunning. Ingredients – Almonds, Flour (wheat flour, malted barley flour), Pure Cane Sugar, Egg Whites, Raisins, Chocolate Liquor, Cocoa Powder, Natural Flavors.
Ok, I know I’ve said their all my favorite, but if I had to pick just one flavor to take with me to a desert island, it’d be this one. Bits of fresh ginger are laced throughout the cookie for a really unique and delicious treat. Ingredients. Almonds, Flour (wheat flour, malted barley flour), Pure Cane Sugar, Egg Whites, Diced Ginger, Natural Flavors.
Almondina cookies are wafer thin and baked to a crispy crunch.
This is one cookie that surprised me. I couldn’t wrap my brain around sesame seeds and almonds being combined into a cookie and yet when I tasted it, it was fantastic. Sesame Seeds, Flour (wheat flour, malted barley flour), Pure Cane Sugar, Egg Whites, Almonds, Raisins, Natural Flavors.
At just 33 calories each, the original cookie packs a lot of flavor into one thin little cookie. Almonds, Flour (wheat flour, malted barley flour), Pure Cane Sugar, Egg Whites, Raisins, Natural Flavors.
This is the one I enjoyed with ice cream – the cherries are sweet and chewy which offsets the crunchy cookie and roasted almonds beautifully. Ingredients – Almonds, Wheat Flour, Malted Barley Flour, Pure Cane Sugar, Egg Whites, Cherries, Cocoa Mass, Cocoa Powder, Natural Flavors.
