Lately we’ve had a hard time getting together as a family because of schedules. Steve was called over to Eastern Washington to work the wildfire in Cle Elum and Brian is working late shifts at the airport. So I gathered up my youngest son, Alex, and his girlfriend and we had a family game night. We’ve been playing games as a family since before the kids were born. Steve and I often played games we’d later enjoy with the kids like Connect Four and Monopoly.

To prepare for our game night I took a trip to Walmart where I picked up some of Alex and La’s favorite “kid” food – French fries and chicken nuggets (see my shop here). Unfortunately, our oven malfunctioned a few weeks ago and we’re still waiting on delivery of our new stove, so I had to get creative and deep fry both the Ore-Ida French Fries and the Tyson Chicken Nuggets. We haven’t deep fried anything in our home in over 20 years. Thankfully they turned out great and I added some Heinz Ketchup (organic) and some grapes to finish of their meal – just like when they were kids!

Alex had purchased a new Hasbro game a few weeks ago so we pulled that out to give it a spin. MONOPOLY Revolution (ages 8+) is a new twist on the traditional Monopoly game – most notable is the elimination of the paper money which is replaced by cards, the electronic bank, and the round board. The game is faster paced than the original and includes real-world pricing for the properties.

The kids had a great time and we really enjoy family game night. We hope to do it again soon when everyone’s schedules match up. We’re ready to take on the other half of the family in a bidding war for Park Place and Boardwalk!

Family Game Night is so much fun, especially when you are playing Monopoly!

I haven’t even SEEN that Monopoly game before but it looks like a lot of fun. Your family is adorable! Love the way you make this simple meal look upscale just by putting it on pretty places and serving water in wine glasses!

I was pretty stoked myself to find some organic Heinz ketchup! I love it when “big” kids still love food from when they were younger. Heck, I know I do.

Looks like a fun game! That is one we haven’t tried yet.
