MIRROR MIRROR Movie Girls Night Out Spa Party
MIRROR MIRROR MOVIE NIGHT
We had a magical time last night! I got together with my nieces, my mother, and my sister to celebrate 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment’s home video release of “Mirror Mirror.”
After mixing up some red apple martini’s to set the mood and sharing in the spa party packs, we settled down with popcorn and candy to watch Julia Roberts, Armie Hammer, and Lily Collins in “Mirror Mirror“…and boy did we! We were only a few minutes into the movie when we were shushed by the token male at the party because we were talking too much and he was into the film! We took his lead, sat back and started paying attention and we were rewarded with a movie that made us laugh out loud on many occasions and yes, there was some talking back to the screen, and so many repeats of funny lines to each other.
This isn’t a classic retelling of the Snow White story – it’s a re-imagination where Snow White becomes empowered and takes on social causes and in one scene makes a point of saying most stories require a price to save a princess. In this film, it takes everyone to save the group from evil and reinstate the true ruler of the kingdom.
We all fell in love with the dwarfs; but these dwarfs are not the fun and fancy free dwarfs you find at my favorite theme park in California. These boys have an edge and they’re hilariously funny. And the evil queen is certainly evil, but not in a scary and frightening black magic way; more of a crazy-house-is-in-your-future kinda way. Julia Roberts did the role proud! That’s not to say that black magic isn’t present, it is, it’s just way more lightheartedly done than previous Snow White movies. And speaking of Snow White, what’s up with her eye brows? During a make-over scene in the movie I thought surely they’ll take care of them….but alas, not.
We had a fabulous time watching ”Mirror Mirror.” And I think I can safely say we all loved it. The film is appropriate for kids ages 10ish and up (it’s rated PG) and has mild suggestive language and comical violence (sword fighting).

I can’t wait to get back together with the girls soon. Everyone took home plenty of spa products to do their own makeover and I think we’ve had enough candy and goodies for a while.
Thanks ladies for a wonderful evening and pick up “Mirror Mirror.” on Blu-ray or DVD. It’s completely entertaining and one I’ll certainly watch again!
