33 Trendy Christmas Trees to Get You Inspired for Holiday Decorating
The trends I’m seeing for Christmas trees for 2011 are the same as most years – metallic, classic, traditional, whimsical, etc. So do what calls you. We tend to decorate what I’d call heirloom – we use all the decorations and ornaments we’ve collected over the years and we rarely deviate from it. I’ve thought about doing a themed tree, but never get past looking at them in magazines and online. The cost of switching over is one drawback. The other is that ever ornament we unpack has a memory and a story to it. Perhaps that’s why I’m not ready to go with something more designed and less thrown together.
Back when the kids were young we had multiple trees so we did do some themeing – all the Disney ornaments on one tree, Sesame Street on another, and action figures like Superman on still another. I made the mistake of buying Hallmark ornaments when the boys were little and I bought way too many of them for years. The idea was they could take their ornaments with them when they moved out – that didn’t happen. Now I’m thinking when they get married. They’ll both have enough for an 8′ tree and then some and we’ll still have too many.
We usually put our Christmas Tree up the day after Thanksgiving, but it hasn’t happened yet. So how do you decorate your tree? Is it up yet?
