Peanut Butter and Nutella or Jelly Thumbprint Cookie Recipe
Are you ready for the holidays? With Thanksgiving must weeks away, it’s time to start thinking all things food and for me that means thinking in double – standard and traditional holiday fare for the family and vegetarian options for me. So while we don’t cook turkey at our house (the mother-in-law has hosted Thanksgiving for the last 32 years), we do prepare sides for the feast and of course dessert! But even though there are some must-have dishes for this once-a-year feast, we also love to try out new and/or trendy recipes as well.
This year Macy’s is hosting a Recipe Share Contest were you can share YOUR favorite recipe for the chance to win $1000 and be featured on FoodRepublic.com, but you’ll also be a winner by checking out the winning recipes for something new to tryout this year. And to get the party started, SheSpeaks.com and Macy’s have joined together to host a Twitter Party! In addition, three panelists are participating: Connie Foggles of Brain Foggles, Zippy Sandler of Champagne Living and ME! But what’s MY favorite holiday recipe? My mother-in-law’s Raspberry Thumbprint Cookies. She grows the raspberries in her yard and every fall she makes freezer jam with them and then she makes the shortbread cookie, rolls it in massive amounts of walnuts, bakes them, and fills them with her sweet and tart homemade jam. Heaven! I can’t tell you how many I eat during the Thanksgiving and Christmas season, but I suspect it’s in the dozens. They’re that good.
In a homage to my MIL, I make Peanut Butter & Nutella Thumbprint Cookies which are fabulous in their own right and they compliment, but don’t compete with hers. Here’s my Peanut Butter & Jam (or Nutella) cookie recipe.
