Pampers Introduces Dry Max Diapers

Posted by Connie - March 7, 2010 - Children & Baby Products, Events, Expired Contests

Choosing the right diaper for your baby usually takes a lot of trial and error.  When my kids were babies in the ’80′s we wanted to be environmentally-friendly so we decided on a diaper service since neither of us liked the idea of having to triple-wash them at home.  It wasn’t  just the expense, but also the time and trouble, plus we’d always wonder if there was e-coli left behind in the washer that might contaminate a kitchen or bath towel – yuck!

It was about 3 months into the diaper service that we received a diaper that was still soiled, and since it could have been any baby’s waste, we decided it was time to ditch the service and go to disposables. Shortly after, we found out that diaper services weren’t as environmentally friendly as we thought because of the amount of water, heat, and chlorine that they use.  That made us feel better about switching  to disposables.

If I was to use diapers today, I’d opt for organic disposable. Until they become more affordable, the more popular brands of diapers would be an option.  Pampers offers a new diaper, called Pampers Dry Max Diapers, that is 20% thinner than their regular diaper and are said to be able to keep your baby dry as long as 12 hours, but for your baby’s health, changer her often.  Thinner means more room in your diaper bag and less room taken up storing them.

On our first trip with baby, I stayed a few days longer than hubby and so was flying home on my own. Naturally, baby chooses midflight to poop — and leak out of her diaper– and the plane has no changing stations! I somehow managed to change her diaper while balancing her on the toilet lid, but didn’t realize til I got her back to our seats that she has stained her onesie. I didn’t think to pack a change of clothes in my carry-on, and probably couldn’t have managed it in that tiny bathroom anyway!

One bad experience we once had was when we were on a city bus with the baby. Well, diarrhea was a problem that day. Fellow riders noticed the odor and we were so relieved to get off at the next stop to take care of the problem

My worst diapering disaster came after we gave our infant daughter a suppository because she was constipated. It didn’t take long to work and it was the worst mess I’ve ever seen. I didn’t think she’d ever stop going poo. YUCK!!!!!

We went on a road trip a few states away and my son got diarrhea. I ended up having to clean him and the car seat off in the bathroom. It took a whole pack of wipes to get him clean and we had to smell that awful smell all the way home. Once getting home he had to get washed off again and I ran the car seat cover and everything else in the wash. What a nightmare that was!

Woke up one morning to find my son covered in poo. He took off his diaper in the middle of the night.

my goddaughter pooped a good one and her entire jumper got dirty while we were at the mall :(
of course, not being the mother, I didn’t have her diaper bag.
Thus not only did I have to buy diapers and wipes, but a whole new outfit!

    **********WINNING ENTRY************

When my twin boys were first home from the hospital, one of them was terribly constipated. We had to put a suppository up.. there.. and I felt terrible doing it, though he didn’t seem to even notice, thankfully. Hubby and I had no idea how fast it could work. So hubby is helping me, and I put it in. We flip him back over, put the diaper under him, go to bring the diaper between his legs and out shoots poop.. everywhere.. EVERYWHERE. Across my hand, all over the changing table, the floor and on and on. I just stood there in shock and then my husband and I busted up laughing, pretty thankful that he finally pooped. ;)

Oh my gosh! Picture this: Mommy nursed baby and goes back to bed after ahaving problems with C section for months. Daddy is on baby watch duty and hears baby and changes diaper. While changing diaper baby poos all over-it shoots out onto the rug and floor and crib. Daddy cleans up baby and the crib and floor. Mommy gets up to use the bathroom and sees Daddy coming in from outside and asks him what is up. He said it was an explosion and he had to hose down the rug and it is hanging on the fence to dry-and this was an 8×11 ft. rug! He just said it calmly with a little smile on his face! LOL

We have been pretty tame in our household with diapering. More of a poop story than a diapering story, when my oldest was about 15 months he took his diaper off while in his crib. When I went to get him in the morning, he had pooped and been playing with it. Needless to say it was all over him, all over the bedding, even on the walls.

I once changed my son’s poop diaper in an airplane’s bathroom, except he wouldn’t lie down on the small changing table so I had to change him while sitting on the toilet. Ugh, it was just a mess!

Well, I suppose I should count myself lucky that I don’t have any terribly interesting diapering disaster stories. The worst I have is that I just changed my son’s diaper and he let fly with a few gallons of poop so I had to change him again. Not exciting at all… of course, that’s how I prefer it. Anyway, thanks for the giveaway… free diapees are better than regular diapees any day of the week!!!

We were hiking in Yosemite and hubby had our daughter in a backpack. He’d changed her diaper but hadn’t gotten in on straight, so a couple miles in the back of his shirt was soaking wet. It was a LONG hike back!

Up until the time my daughter was about 3 months old, every time she pooped it was explosive and shot out like a rocket (breastfed). Well her diaper was full & leaking so I laid her on the changing table and when I went to wipe her, it shot out, hit the lamp & wall. So gross!!

My biggest diaper disaster was when my nephew was a baby and we went to a water park. He was wearing a cloth diaper so he could play in the baby pool, and got really bad diarrhea. It was oozing out the sides.

  50. Nicole D. says:

Luckily, we haven’t had many diapering disaster stories! But, we have had our share of leaky diapers, and of course putting a fresh one on, only for our baby to soil it after about 10 seconds! I wish diapers grew on trees!

  51. Denise B. says:

I’ve had a diaper explode on me before. Sometimes, especially at night, when they pee way to much, the diaper would have this gel bead-type stuff coming out of it. I don’t know if they still use that stuff in diapers, but they used to.

The most disappointing story is after I had my daughter I got her all dressed and ready for church. It was going to be our first time back at church after having her. Right when we were getting ready to walk in the building, she had a massive blow out and ruined her clothes and her infant seat. We had to turn around and head home without getting to show off our new 3 week old baby!

My diaper disaster story… My daughter had such an explosive diaper, by the time I got the onsie off of her, she had poop in her hair and bellybutton! As I was getting her wiped down and ready to take a bath, daddy was holding her up naked and she pee’d all over him! It was quite messy and quite hillarious all at the same time… new it would happen sooner or later. =]

I can’t say I have a single diaper disaster story. On more than a few occasions, I’ve had one of my children pee on me just as I opened their diaper to change them. I thought only boys did this but my daughter has proved that theory wrong.
