It’s Safety Month and the start of the 2009 Atlantic Hurricane Season. This season is expected to bring 12 named storms, with six of those becoming hurricanes. When Katrina hit, most families with pets were not prepared and sadly, most had to leave their precious pets behind when they went to shelters.

I know I’m probably biased. I haven’t been able to watch “Jon and Kate Plus Eight” since the first season. I hated the way Kate treated her husband and kids, and her inability to allow the kids to have “messy” fun, but I was clearly outnumbered as the show has been a hit.
